Do yourself a favor...

Go to your local good will or salvation army, go to the audio tape section, find Thin Lizzy's "Jailbreak", it should cost between 50 cents and 1 dollar, buy said tape, listen to it. This is not my favorite album, however, I bet its in my top 50. Which is fairly surprising since when I bought it I had heard one song by Thin Lizzy ("The Boys are Back in Town") and I like it, but I don't love it or anything. The strenght of this album is that it really doesn't have a bad song. Also it has a really good feel to it. It's hard to place, but If I had to label it, I would call it "Beer Leauge Softball Rock". That's a good thing by the way. This has cemented my addiction to used audio tapes as my best and least expensive addiction in modern memory.

Hat brings better cards but no success

I am currently experiencing my worst bad luck struck in poker in the history of my carear. For quite some time it was simply a lack of a single playable starting hand. I could play for litterally an hour and a half with my best starting hand being an Ace Eight. I was however able to find the cause of this: I had no lucky hat. Well I was able to get that hat, and my cards have drastically improved. Case in point: I played last night and got good cards. However, after over an hour of play, I was in great position to double up. After the flop I had a flush, my opponet had a pair of tens. At that point I was roughly 98% to win the hand. I did not win the hand. Thus the hat seems to only effect my luck in regaurds to getting playable hands. It does not help my luck in winning hands I am rediculouslly ahead on. So my question is... what lucky thing do you need to be able to do that?

New Idea: State Geography Twister

I haven't spoken much about Student Teaching. There are a few reasons for this:
1. I have been very busy what with all the student teaching
2. Don't know rules about me sharing information about students, etc.
3. Realized one of my students might google my name and find this website so deffinately want to avoid saying anything negative.
4. Nothing really all that monstrouslly interesting to talk about.

However, that being said, it has gone quite well. My experiences as a teacher are making me feel that teaching is not only a carear I could handle, it could be one I could acctually enjoy.
This point is highlighted by an idea I had today. I have an overhead of the United States broken into 30 sections. I will have each student draw one section (a section will be Montana, half of idaho, and a third of Wyoming or whatever). We will than tape them all to the floor and play twister (right hand Nebraska, left foot Ohio, what have you). I like this idea, and I am working in a job where I can come up with an idea I like, and than do it. I like that.

Book Reviews: Outside the Dog Museum

Big review of a book I read awhile ago. This would not be an especially big deal, except that this book was AMAZING. The book was funny, it was interesting, it had great characterization, it was hard to put down. Best thing I can say about it: I WILL be reading more Jonathan Caroll. The basic idea of this book is that a world famous architecht has a nervous breakdown than gets cured by a mystic, and is later hired to build a Dog Museum that may or may not be the Tower of Babbel. This book has a lot of sub plots that appear as random stories that are thrown in for no reason. While they appear random, there is a theme that connects them all together and makes them an integraul part of the book. You might have to read it to understand what I'm talking about. At the end of the day all that really matters is that this is a great book by a ver talented writer, so I'll just say that.

Outside the Dog Museum is my 23rd favorite book of all time, this makes Jonathan Caroll my 17th favorite author between Franz Kafka and Robert Heinlin.
